One of SAAMA's aims is to promote sound physical asset management principles and practices in Southern Africa. Towards this aim we have been developing a certification scheme for "Physical Asset Management Practitioners", based on the fast growing PAS 55. (More information on PAS 55 under the Services Page).
The SAAMA (SCPP) Certificate recognises consultants who display a very high scope and depth of knowledge and understanding in the PAM field. Certification therefore requires that a mark of at least 80% is achieved in a written examination. A candidate who attains a pass mark will be one of a very select, prestigious group of consultants. We therefore urge all capital-intensive organisations that make use of consultants in the field of physical asset management and related systems to make use of SAAMA Certified Individuals.
The certification exam is currently in its final phase of calibration. A number of individuals accross South Africa took part in writing the exam. The results of the exams, after adjustment for calibration reasons, will be used for certification of the participants.
