SAAMA Maintenance Planner Designation

The purpose of this work group is to establish a professional maintenance planner designation as recognition of the essential role that planners perform in AM by formalising and raising the profile (and therefore pride and motivation) of planners responsible for the planning and execution of maintenance activities.

A prerequisite for this designation will be to have a planner qualification, which will be fulfilled by obtaining the recent “occupational certificate: Maintenance Planner” qualification that was registered with QCTO and SAQA.  SAAMA collated and provided the question bank for this qualification to CHIETA.

The working group documented the application process, as well as the assessment requirements for the designation.  Four working group members were approved by the SAAMA council to act as assessors for the maintenance planner designation applications.

Outstanding actions are to register the designation with SAQA and to update the SAAMA designation application on website to accommodate the Certified Maintenance Planner designation.
